Step-by-step tutorials for common Webalytics workflows. Each tutorial is designed to take under 10 minutes.
Tutorial 1: Track your first conversion
- 1Identify your conversion actionWhat does a successful visit look like? A form submission, a purchase, a sign-up? Pick one clear action to start with.
- 2Check if it's auto-capturedGo to Events → Auto-captured in your dashboard. If your button or form appears here, Webalytics is already tracking it.
- 3Set it as a goalGo to Settings → Goals → Add goal. Select the event from the list and name it something meaningful like "Demo booked".
- 4Watch conversions roll inYour goal conversion rate now appears on your Overview dashboard and in each page's detail view.
Tutorial 2: Diagnose a low-converting page
- 1Open the Pages reportSort by Conversion Grade ascending to surface your worst-performing pages first.
- 2Check the scroll depth chartClick into the page. If most visitors drop off before reaching your CTA, that's a placement problem — move your CTA higher.
- 3Review traffic sourcesLow conversion from one source (e.g. social) often means the audience intent doesn't match the page. Consider a dedicated landing page for that source.
- 4Check the dead page detectorIf the page is flagged, the data is telling you it needs significant work or should be consolidated into another page.
Tutorial 3: Set up UTM tracking for a campaign
UTM parameters let you track exactly which campaigns, emails, or social posts drive conversions.
- Build your campaign URL using a UTM builder tool (Google's Campaign URL Builder works well).
- Use consistent naming:
utm_source=newsletter,utm_medium=email,utm_campaign=summer-launch. - Use this URL in your campaign instead of the bare link.
- After the campaign, view results in Sources → UTM breakdown in your dashboard.
Consistency is keyInconsistent UTM naming (e.g.
Email vs email vs e-mail) creates fragmented data. Agree on a naming convention with your team before starting.Tutorial 4: Add a team member
See the Adding & removing users guide for full instructions. The short version: go to Settings → Team → Invite member, enter their email, and choose their permission level.
